What is ABA?

ABA therapy for children with autism focuses on increasing desired, socially significant behaviors and decreasing behaviors that can be dangerous or interfere with learning. At Amigo Care, we incorporate ABA strategies and principles in a naturalistic, play based format. We believe that children learn best when they are motivated and having fun.

What is the goal of ABA?

The goal is to promote appropriate behaviors and discourage inappropriate behaviors. ABA therapy has a scientifically proven track record for success in helping children with autism in the following skill domains: language and communicaiton, socialization, activitities of daily living, and adaptability.

What can I expect?

You and your child will work with a therapy team that includes a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), who has undergone extensive training in ABA and a therapist or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). Therapists meet with the children one-on-one, in the child’s home, in a safe and familiar environment that helps the child learn. It also allows the therapy team to work in close contact with the rest of the child’s family and incorporate them into the therapy program for a Whole Family Approach.

Skills We Work On

Maladaptive Behavior Reduction

We apply ABA therapy methods to promote positive behaviors and help get your child back on track.

Increase Communication

We teach your child how to make their needs known. This is an important part of the ABA therapy process.

Social skills

Our team uses ABA therapy to help children with autism learn valuable skills that encourage them to better integrate socially.

Self-Help Skills

Simple things are hard for children with ASD. ABA therapy helps them manage daily life by teaching them functional skills like dressing and/or bathing.

Tolerance Training

We teach your child how to increase the amount of time they will need to wait in order to access someone's attention or to obtain access to an item or activity.

Early Intervention

We provide early intervention services based on ABA principles in a naturalistic, play based format. Children learn best when they are motivated and having fun!
